What is the carbon network?

The environmental problems are becoming more important and gaining more attention everyday. With the Paris agreement and the carbon reduction goals that come with it, companies are more and more trying to understand their carbon footprint and reduce them.
As you might know, carbon footprint calculation is very uncertain and very difficult for companies with complex projects. For example projects that include multiple sub-entities, sub-contractors, or partners. Usually, the data gathered on such projects are incomplete for doing a carbon footprint and are gathered from multiple unreliable sources of information. Also, the emission factors used to calculate the emissions are very global and not available for specific industry needs or situations. Dealing with so much data from diverse sources with such uncertainty is very unpleasant and inaccurate. We are working on a carbon footprint project with the goal of reducing the carbon footprint of industries by establishing a “professional carbon network” between the entities in the supply chain of companies. This will allow companies to have more transparency in the emissions of their suppliers and it will allow them to provide the next user in the supply chain with a clear footprint of their product. This way the companies can see the footprint of each entity in the supply chain, understand where the emissions are coming from, and change suppliers if needed in a specific level of the hierarchy. Along with this network will come tools for carbon footprint calculation tailored to the needs of each industry and later tools for connecting the activities of the company to the calculation tools for automatic footprint calculation.
